Well the black car lives again. And what a damn nightmare!! What started out as an easy fix with about $30 in off the shelf parts turned into a monthlong fiasco. I decied to go ahead and pop for a "better" $100 timing set instead of a $10 parts store one. Just to find out that 1 out of three parts are discontinued by GM.... Lot's of scrounging to locate one in Oregon or somedamnwhere like that. Then nobody can get me a goofy little cam button. Untill I show up with another part number and they order it. Turns out the cheaping parts store timing set will take out all kinds of expensive shit when it fails. Now I have to locate a whole new timeing cover with oil pump and rebuild the entire front of my engine. Joy!
Blah Blah Blah. 10 days of trying to get some rod bearing in that should have only took one.
With all the parts in hand I finally got to battle the 100F* heat (instead of the monsoons from the hurricane) to put my damn car back together.
Now I can sweep out my carport and knock down all the loud ass dirt dauber nests that they formed over my car. I really don't want to know what I spent on this expedition.
Interesting note on flying insects.
1)they really get on my damn nerves.
2)They figured out to build nests over my car because I wouldn't spray them with brake parts cleaner
3)I sprayed a bunch of them with "OFF! insect repellant". I'm hoping they went into a self-loathing spell and commited bugicide.
4)To the cat that got into my car and ripped my freshly recovered, not available from GM anymore seat... I really wished I used antifreeze in my car. I'd feel so much better if you didn't get parched while fucking up my car.
Tomorrow, bathtime and waxing. Vader's going to look pretty again.
can't wait.
